Hi everyone. I was able to rescue a memovox E855 from a guy that was about to try and play doctor on it. Guy qas a complete nut case. Already took a drimmel to the crystal. And pliers to the case back. Its not in terrible condition im just glad i stoped by to look at his collection when i did. Wich was nothing but broken trash. Guess his hobby is to pull watches apart. Dont know how he ended up with this one. But hopefully now it will be appreciated for what it is.

Anny ways sorry for the rant. I need a crown crystal and mostly a cleaning. Anny info on places for parts or recomended smiths would be appreciated

Hello! I am new to this forum so please forgive me if this is in the wrong thread:) I just wanted to know if this is a good vintage? And if everything is original? I have looked at the movement and it is an original 9ro LeCoultre movement. Is this a good buy for $550?
Thank you

Hi
I've inherited this from my uncle years ago. He was very much into gold watches, rings & bracelets. It's not to my liking so how much do you think I can get for it? If this is not the right forum can you refer me to right one.
Full set with original box, instructions service manual, international guarantee booklet & original purchase receipt dated 20/7/74. Automatic cal. K881 fully serviced recently.
35.5mm w/o crown, 37mm incl. 41.6mm lug to lug. Serial # 1355827. Original unaltered dial. Dial & hands are all original. NOS condition. Keeps good time.
Thanks in advance!
Tim

Hour hand misaligned

Brand new watch from an AD. Not even a week old. Keeps time to less than a sec/day. Very pleased. Yet, upon close inspection, the hour hand seems to be off by about 1/3 of the one minute interval at the exact hour:

This is pretty annoying but does it warrant the trip to the service center? What if they mess up something else? Would it not be more prudent to wait until the warranty is almost up to have this addressed, hoping they will do some general servicing / lubricating at the same time then?

Went to set the time on my grande taille reverso and when pulled crown out to 1st position the entire stem came out.....I nearly puked. It clicked back in but when I tried it the next day it happened again. Anyone heard of this before? It's not due a service for a couple if years but may send it in.

First Jaeger-LeCoultre Purchase - possible to negotiate the price or not?

I am planning to purchase my first Jaeger-LeCoultre. I was considering going to Tourneau or the official Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique. Is it possible to get a price adjustment in any of those stores? Is it possible to get a price adjustment at all? Are there any other stores in New York which I should consider? Is it easier to negotiate the price on a more expensive watch? Please let me know your thoughts and share your experiences. Thank you. P.S. Not interested in doing business with any grey-market dealers or online sellers.

Vintage LeCoultre Memovox k814

Hey friends,

So I purchased an old LeCoultre Memovox with the cal. k814 "Vacheron" movement a few months ago from a local watchmaker. The watch is gorgeous, but it is missing one important thing: the triangle that points towards the desired alarm time. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction so that I may locate one!

Thanks,

Tom

So I have multiple straps for my Reverso & would rather not have to change the buckles each time. Any recommendations?

Hi dear fellow wis

I'm new to JLC and just purchased my reverso grande ultra thin last week as a new year gift ! Got a good price from AD :)

I'm in honeymoon with this piece and am wearing it everyday. Wonder has anybody done the same for extended period of time? Wanted to know how appropriate and sturdy this watch is for everyday use !

Typically in office setting with long sleeve shirt and weekend with tee and jeans!

How robust is the watch ?

My reverso seems to have significant time error.

Hey people on JLC forum!

I have purchased a Grande Reverso Calendar like a month ago but it seems to have a significant time error.
Over last 2 days or so, it is moving 50 sec ~ 1 min faster.
What do you guys suggest me to do? should I run more tests to see it for sure?
Since this watch does not have a second hand, all I can do for testing is relying on to looking at the minute hand.

Finally gave in and got a Casa Fagliano strap for my TT1931

After reading countless threads on how wonderful this strap is, I finally gave in and bought one for my TT1931.

Must say, it's very, very comfortable to wear and can imagine the fit will be better once it ages. :)

Thanks to drhr, cfracing, AD76, Albert Davidson and others for praising this strap which kept me interested.

Here are some quick shots of the strap.

So far, I'm pretty happy with it!

Custom case back for early memovox

Was curious. The newer memovox has a nicely tuned bell bar built in to the case back. I would assume it would be relatively easy to make a case back for the older models to utilize the same concept. Since it is a ring lock back that would prevent them from having to deal with threads and should be easier. Has any one ever given this much thought.

JLC vintage 50s/60s all original/legit?

Hi all,

i am new to the forum and am writing hoping someone could help on this one. I stumbled upon this watch on the web and was really thinking of going for it but had some doubts on whether it is legit and particularly whether the dial could be repainted or there may be a case of mismatching parts and the like...have not seen the piece in the metal yet. It is listed as a vintage piece allegedly from the 50's, all original parts, ref E284, cal P480c.
Thank you very much in advance for any advice or help you may provide.
Cheers
Marco

Minutes hands don't align on my reverso duo

I have the first version of the duo, a lovely lovely piece but the minute hands dont line up with each other. Say if you set the time to 12:00 on silver dial side, when you flip it over to the black side it'll read 12:03.

Anyone had a similar experience? Anyone know how it's caused or if there's sokething in can do myself to fix it?

Memovox Help

All,
I desperately want/need a 60's JLC Memovox, preferably in gold. I realize this is a highly collectible watch and has probably seen some recent resurgence since Don Draper decided to wear one in the Mad Men TV series. My questions are:
What's the movement to own? cal 815/825 bumper automatic? Are earlier manual wind editions as collectible? (i wouldnt mind a manual wind in this watch; adds to its charm in my opinion)
Whats a fair price? - I know this is tough but im seeing theM for 5k and upwards for the cal 825's in gold in good condition. Seems high for the uncertainty of buying-without-seeing and from mostly overseas/german dealers with little to no guarantees.
Any insight/help/personal experience here with memovox's or really any successful vintage purchases are appreciated. thank you for you TIME.

Is this JLC Memovox the real deal??

Hey guys, I'm rather new to watch collecting but I've had my eye on this for a while. I think I finally found the right watch for a reasonable price. Can anyone offer opinions on this Memovox? As stated by seller, reference 855 year 1966 K825 bumper automatic. I'm a little skeptical of the dial; black indices look a bit off, is this an original dial? Thank you. (price is $3,000)

I have owned my MUT moon for about 6 months now and I love it. One thing I have noticed is that the dial is not brushed like most of the other MUT Moons I see online. Am I the only one ? Or do they just vary from watch to watch.
