Need Geophysic Help.

Hey all,

So I saw that a new bracelet is being released for the Geophysic True Second and Universal Time... I have the Geo 1958 LE and would love to know if that bracelet will fit. I've looked online and it seems that the Universal Time has larger lugs, but I can't find any lug width info on the True Second. I know the case is 39.6mm, up from the 38.5mm of my Geo 1958, but if the lugs are still 19mm, I think the bracelet will work. Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

I have been collecting watches for a long time but I am new to the Forum.

Yesterday was a special day when I picked up my new JLC Reverso, Tribute, Calendar.

It really is beautiful, stylish with just the right features for me.

It is quite a bit larger than the classic I bought many moons ago.

Master Ultra Thin Moon Phase RG

Hey all,

I am considering making a large purchase for the first time so wanted to get the opinions of experts (or at least people who know a lot more than me). I really like the MUT Moon Phase in Rose Gold. I have tried it on and it fits really well and I think the look of it is amazing and I really like JLC as a brand. It is solidly formal so it doesn't work great with casual outfits, but so it goes. Before purchasing though, I was hoping to get some advice on a few things.

1. Has anyone had any experience with this model before? Any reservations about this model? Were there major maintenance issues? Have people had experience with thin watches having more maintenance issues than their thicker counterparts?

2. The MSRP is almost double the exact same watch in steel ($16,400 v. $8,700). I was expecting a markup for precious metals obviously, but is an increase of this amount normal?

3. One of the things that people seem to say a lot on these boards is that JLC do not retain value well. The natural follow up question for me then is where are the best places to buy used? I have looked and can't really find this model (or other MUT RG) on the secondary market lightly used. Do you expect more to come available as more time passes?

4. If buying new, where would you recommend purchasing? In store the watch retails for $16,400. Dealers on Chrono24 have the watch for between $12,000 and $13,000. Do the ADs discount at all?

5. When do the 2016 give way to new 2017 models and is there any discount to be had by purchasing from the previous years models like with cars etc?

Hi all,

Newish here. Got turned on to JLC by a watch expert friend and I am so glad I asked for his thoughts. I love the unique Widmanstatten pattern on the meteorite dial. Pretty cool to
know that a slice of something 4 Billion years old that was floating in the Mars-Jupiter belt is now on my wrist. Very impressed by the finish. I am a fan andhope to pickup other pieces in the coming years. This one is very special for me. It's a gift I got myself for my son's birth. Maybe one day it will be his :) Let me know what you think!

Regards,

MrB

Dual time question

I've seen a JLC dual time watch for sale that my wife really likes. But I have a question as to how it operates. It has a second sub dial just below the 12 position that reads as a 24 hour display (24 is at the bottom of the smaller dial). It has a single blue hand to show hours. In addition it has an extra blue hand on the main dial. My question is how do these hands interact? Is the large blue hand for minutes or does it also show the hour? Or perhaps the large blue hand shows the hour, while the sub dial hand lets you know whether it's day or night? Seems an odd arrangement.

I appreciate any insight into this.

Reverso Tribute Casa Fagliano Strap Question

I have a Reverso Classique but love the look of the tribute cordovan straps made for the Reverso Tribute by Casa Fagliano.

Given the limited availability and fairly high cost for an authentic strap (+ the different lug widths). Does anyone know of a strapmaker who can put out a reasonable replica?

When I saw the movie The Judge (good movie btw) I noticed the watch Robert Downey Jr was wearing. Didn't think much of it until the movie started playing on cable and I watched it again, paying more attention to the watch by pausing the movie. I then googled "watch Robert Downey wearing in the judge" and I could not stop browsing the web to see various photos of it. March 2016 was when the obsession started and at this point my collection consisted of...

After several months I was finally able to pull the trigger on the Deep Sea. I sold the 3 watches to free up $. Problem was I could not find a JLC, New or preowned. So I decided to get back into Rolex with this...

Had the Rolex about a month when i was browsing the website of my trusted seller of choice, the same one I bought my Sea-Dweller from. Lo and behold his "other brands" section had a JLC Deep Sea Vintage Chrono! I was immediately conflicted as I could not keep the Rolex and buy the Deep Sea. I decided that the Rolex will always be easy to source. So after taking a day to think it over I worked out the trade and am excited to say this is on my wrist...

Happy to be part of the club!

Very happy with the Reverso Duo! Just arrived this morning. Prefect on my wrist ( The 976 was great but the case wastoo long)

The only thing I want to add is a Black leather strap. Anything that is in the 50-150$ range that will match the original look?

I wash my hands a lot so I don't want to have a 400$ strap ruined.

Thanks

Here are some pics!

Hello everyone. I just won this Jaeger at auction and I absolutely love it. Yes it needs some work and a new JLC crown but it runs like a dream and keeps good time. I'm not a JLC expert, this is my first... would love to hear any information anyone has on this piece / if I made the right move by investing in it. Thanks

Fake Reverso - Help?

In process of purchasing a Reverso Grande GMT 8 day (240.8.18), and asked private seller to send me some additional pics of the back of the watch.

Comparing to other images I've seen of this model, the engraving looks off to me in several areas (the "-" between Jaeger and LeCoultre is not straight, the "R" and "V" seem to have a double engraving, etc), and they don't look 'clean' enough to me.

Anyone with knowledge of this watch or these engravings chime in so I don't get burned? :) As is I don't know if I trust the seller enough to proceed. I guess they say when in doubt...

Much appreciated!

Shots anyone?

I stopped into a high end watch shop this afternoon, which is listed on the JLC website as an actual authorized boutique. As I was browsing their selection of JLC watches a woman that worked there walked over and asked if I needed any help. I asked if they carried the Master Eight Days Perpetual (which she was not sure what that was) and then said,"These are all we have at the moment, but the "Jagers" turn over fast." She pronounced it "Yay-ger," like Jagermeister. I didn't correct her but I didn't continue the conversation. I was hoping to chat about some of their pieces but I figured there was no point. :-(

Jaeger LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph Used Prices

Hey everyone! Quick question - I have my eyes set on a Jaeger LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph. There are not a lot of used value comps given that the watch was released a few years ago. That said, what does everyone think a good deal would be for one in near mint condition, box, papers, etc.? Also, while not considering most watches as an investment, especially ones that I wear on a regular basis, how would you expect the value to hold up vs. a Rolex Daytona, Omega, etc.? I currently own the following:

Rolex Submariner Black/Silver
Rolex Datejust Roman Numerals 18k White Gold
Omega Seamaster James Bond Blue Wave
IWC Portugieser 7 Day IW500109
Omega Speedmaster Chronograph

Looking to add another brand to my collection, but want to get something that will retain decent value if bought used. Let me know your thoughts and if there are any others out there that I should be taking a look at given my existing collection. Looking in the $5k - $8k range. Admittedly, the Deep Sea Chronograph does have some similarities to other watches I own. Thanks!!

MUT Moon or Master Calendar

I was planning on buying an ALS Saxonia, but there was one problem; I could not get the idea of owning a JLC watch out of my mind. For whatever reason, rational or irrational, I want to own a JLC watch. I have narrowed my search down to a MUT Moon or Master Calendar. Quite simply, if given a choice, which one would you buy?

Is there a resource available which would show available OEM 20mm straps?

The website isn't particularly helpful; I also tried a boutique & a JLC concierge, neither of whom were particularly helpful either...

Where are the True Second owners?

I've been looking for a "special" piece to add to the collection and I have been fascinated lately by the Geophysic TS. I don't see as many in the 419 as I would expect. A fair number of people are recommending them, but I need more wrist shots!

I'm currently trying to talk myself either into or out of one; I haven't decided which it is. I think the dead beat complication is just great. Sure it's pointless in our world, but then so is a mechanical watch.

My only real concern is the case size. I suppose it's a little large for me for this type of watch, but still more than doable on a 7" wrist. Can anyone comment on how it looks/wears compared to my 39mm MC Date (besides the obvious difference in dimensions)? My other issue is that I am not sure the MC and TS could coexist. Thoughts?

I also know about the just-announced mystery bracelet that supposedly has a bunch of great features (though no photos exist of said features). I guess I am on the fence about that since I don't wear bracelets much.

Just rambling here, but what I am getting at is this: Show your True Second!!

Anyone else have this problem with their bracelet? The links connecting the end links have separated. This is off the Master Compressor Diver...
