Business dress watch: RDM, MUTM

$

I am finally getting closer to acquiring my first JLC and have narrowed down between RDM in Rose gold and MUT-moon.
(1)
Reading about the RDM, I find some interesting notes from the time of release about the blue hands “painted” as opposed to being heat treated. Is that the case or was that a wrong assumption early on? – I seem to get mixed results reading up online.
(2)
I have the RDM, MUT-Moon & Perpetual calendar in my mind both RG & SS versions and I cannot decide on one [before deciding I will visit a boutique]. The PC costs nearly double, so I would ease that..
between RDM & MUT-moonphase, Any thoughts? Appreciate Photo links (wrist shots). Of the two I assume MUT-moonphase is more popular.

[I am also drawn to RG versions of ALS Saxonia & IWC Portofino]

Thanks,
-Michael.

Dont' yell at me, but.....strap question for original JLC Reverso Duo

I just acquired a JLC Reverso Duo 1st generation (270.8.54) and love it.

It came on an original black alligator strap, which is beautiful and looks perfect for more formal occasions, but I wear a lot of brown (shoes / belts) and would like to purchase a brown strap to add to this great watch's versatility.

I have searched this forum with multiple search term combinations, and have seen references to Stonecreekstraps, Camille Founet straps and Casa Fagliano straps......all are great, but I've also read with these straps, one needs to be aware of the proximal end and how they're designed to align with the lugs.

So.....I am creating yet another strap thread with a question, but would like input from the experts; what is the singular strap you recommend that I can purchase to supplement my existing black JLC strap ?

Thanks in advance,

JLC Master Control Triple Date 140.8.87 vs. JLC Master Control Triple Date 140.840.872B

The JLC Master Control Triple Date 140.8.87 has caught my attention and thinking of purchasing a pre-owned piece. Unfortunately, I don't know much about said model and then came across a similar JLC piece with reference 140.840.872B. I've been trying to do some research on the web to find out the difference, but still need more info such as year made, movement and whether it's a reliable watch.

I'd appreciate the expertise of those who have owned these two models or of those who are more familiar with the triple date line.

Thank you in advance!

I just got my newest addition. 2016 was a busy year in watches; I purchased 3 and sold 2. I’ll have to slow down in 2017. If not the wife may shoot me… This latest edition is by far my favorite (for now).

I purchased the black PVD version a few weeks ago and liked it, but just did not love it. About that same time I saw a posting for this online. I ended up returning the black PVD piece and starting a negotiation on this. After a week or so we agreed on a deal.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know of any good places online to purchase a vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Cal.825?

I live in Australia, so somewhere they are willing to internationally ship. Also, is my $3000 budget to small?

Regards,

Robert

Hi all,
I'm looking for any help or guidance for my friend and neighbor. His farther recently passed away and within his possessions was a LeCoultre watch, which was engraved on the back with his sons (my friend and neighbor) name. He never saw his father wear the watch and had no idea it was his until now. There's a possibility it was another family members as it looks like a Ladies watch.

There are no other markings on the watch other than LeCoultre and Swiss on the face and 14k on the back and he is hesitant to open it to get any serial numbers as to not damage it.
i think its a 1950s ladies 14k watch with diamonds
In the same box it came with was a silver bracelet strap that looks like it fits this watch

I don't have a great picture of it so just looking for any ideas right now until i can take some proper pictures.

Is this a real Jaeger Le Coultre?

Hey guys,

I stumbled across this on Chrono24, and was just wondering if this is real? As in, is there such thing as a Jaeger LeCoultre MEMOVOX Jubile 150th anniversary of 1983?

Just curious,

Regards,

Robert

Considering Rose Gold MUT Moon

I am considering picking up a rose gold MUT this week and I wanted to get opinions from owners of them. Main question is the versatility of wearing this watch, is it mostly suit only? Does the gold easily chip?

What are your thoughts on this model? Specifically its movement 891 (base) /448 (date/moon).
Is this movement durable or do I have to get it maintenanced every X amount of years?

I have an opportunity to purchase a rose gold version for $7k (no box or papers) and don't want to miss this opportunity.

The watch in question is

HELP: Jaeger LeCoultre 150th Anniversary Jubilee Memovox

Hey guys,

I have just stumbled across an ad on Chrono24 (https://www.chrono24.com.au/jaegerle...-id5518156.htm). I was just wondering if anyone on here would be able to tell me anything about this model of Memovox, any history of it? It looks very nice and for a while now i've been thinking of getting a Vintage memovox or even a second hand master memovox, with a budget of 6k. I've been doing my research and have fallen absolutely in love with it.

What do you guys think i need to know before i purchase one, or am i being stupid for thinking of getting one?

Thanks,

Robert

Advice on where to buy a Master Ultra Thin JLC in Europe

$

I've been in love with the Jaeger Master Ultra Thin (grey face, brown leather strap) for years. Thanks to a new job, and to celebrate losing 15 kg, I plan on buying it soon. However, I've never purchased a JLC, and I was hoping this board could help me better understand my options.

I would prefer to buy used, in mint condition, from a respected seller. But if I can get a very good deal on a new watch that would also be acceptable. I don't want to pay more than 5k USD for a new watch, which seems possible (based on what I see at Chrono24 and Ebay), lower for a used watch. I live in the EU, and would probably have import issues with a US seller, so better to find a EU based seller (although I will be traveling to the US in July, and perhaps even earlier). Any thoughts one where to buy?

Also, I know there are various versions of the Master Ultra Thin, any thoughts on which specific model to buy, or something to be cautious about? Around 39mm in diameter (+/- 1-2mm) is perfect for me. Either manual or automatic is fine, although I'd probably prefer automatic. Ideally with no numbers on the face. I typically dress business casual at work (IT firm), and think this watch would go perfectly with jeans and a sports jacket, but also with a business suit.

Thanks for your help!

Can i change this strap?

Master Ultra Thin v. Master Grande Ultra Thin Small Seconds, opinions requested

Has anybody compared these 2 models side by side? Did you notice much of a difference?

All else equal I'd rather own the smaller Master Ultra Thin, because in my experience 38.5mm is a better size for a dress watch. However, the smaller model doesn't come up for sale much in the pre-owned market-- I assume because it was introduced 3 years later & there are less of them around. I found a good looking preowned 40mm model, I think it would fit (7 inch wrist) & in pictures they look almost identical.

My options:
1) Pay an extra $1600+ for a new Master Ultra Thin
2) Pick up the pre-owned Master Grande Ultra Thin now & pocket the $1600 difference
3) Chill out & wait for a Master Ultra Thin to come up for sale in the pre-owned market

What would you do? Also acceptable is Option 4) find a less boring watch to obsess about
