New 2020 Master Control Chronograph, what's with the stopwatch seconds hand

$

Pic below is taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rkp1fDTLns as it is the only display I can see at the moment with the stopwatch seconds hand at rest.
Now I am no watch design expert by any means but why cover that beautiful moon display with the butt of the seconds hand, seeing as the seconds hand is most likely to be at 12 most of the time means the display will be obscured regularly.

JLC Articulated Rubber Bracelet PSA

As limited an audience as this may affect, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Articulated Rubber Bracelet that comes in 24mm and 22mm is still available (For many of the Master Compressor).

The best part is that it used to be $2400K, but now the 24mm I purchased direct through JLC is $1660. You don’t see that very often, e.g. a lower price from the factory. It is a special order item so there’s a 8-10wk wait. I’m sure COVID isn’t helping either.

How to question: What is the proper way to flip over your Reverso?

$

i recently heard there's a right way and wrong way to flip your Reverso to avoid damage to the flipping mechanism.

I don't own one yet but wanted to hear feedback from current owners

1) slide case out to the right PARTIALLY (maybe 3/4 of the way). flip case over. slide case to right to lock it back in

OR

2) slide case out to the right COMPLETELY. flip case over. snap the case DOWN to lock it back in

OR

3) ????

JLC newly acquired, may I ask for your help, Please?

Hello, first, let me thank you for taking the time to read my post. I sincerely appreciate it. This is my first JLC, and I have a few questions about the watch. I have my watchmaker that opens the back, and tells me about my watches, but he has take a leave of absence, and I cannot run to him. :-) Would you please be kind enough to give me an approximate date of creation of my watch? Can you possibly provide a caliber and color? I know it's a challenge with pics only, but I'm not mechanically inclined, and do not want to damage anything. Finally, what kind of tool would I need if I feel adventurous, to want to give it a go and try to open it? Should I just use a hammer and chisel? :-) Thank you sincerely.

P.S. The JLC has an Omega crown. Could there be an Omega movement in there as well? One time I bought an Omega that had a Seiko movement. Duh, me!

Bracelet or Rubber Strap for JLC Polaris Chronograph?

$

Hi all!

When I purchase my Polaris Chronograph, I decided to get it on leather since I knew the gorgeous interchangeable buckle would be of more value to me. This watch is a strap monster considering it’s blue!

With that said, I thought I would be able to find the bracelet later down the road from JLC, and add the JLC rubber strap. Too my surprise, JLC only offers a black leather strap on the website.

Any one have any ideas where I may source one from? At this point, I’d consider aftermarket on both options as long as the ends are curved and hugs the case. I’ve searched everywhere I could think. I probably will not wear the bracelet that often, as I’m a strap guy preferably, but would like to have the options to do so.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Reverso 976 - Hacking Seconds or No?

$

I can't think a quick questions thread so I figure I'd make a thread.

Simple question: Does the Reverso 976 have hacking seconds or not? Some forum listings suggests it does but JLC and watch movement databases make no mention of this feature. I also can't find a single watch review on Youtube that talks or shows any indication of a hacking feature as no one has bothered to fully extend the crown.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute To 1931 - Grail achieved!

When I first saw this Reverso in 2015, my immediate thought was that if I ever owned a Reverso, this would definitely be the one. Now, in 2020, having rediscovered the Reverso, and learning a lot more about Jaeger-LeCoultre, I was disappointed that it ceased production in 2015. Quite simply, I have never been one to buy pre-owned unless I can first see the watch in real life, and also I am very hesitant to buy online. So I got two new Reverso models, both of which are exceptional.

Nevertheless, I knew that I would have to own this Tribute to 1931 model, to ever be fully satisfied. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that, although the model has retained it's value - and in many cases increased in value - there are still some excellent pre-owned models to be had around the original MSRP of $7800USD. Thanks to Crown & Caliber, I got a fair trade for another watch, and a good price for the new one. Not to mention exceptional, friendly, caring and knowledgeable service! As far as I'm concerned, the watch I received is just as good as a new one. This has dispelled any negative thoughts I once had about buying pre-owned and online.

Having owned this watch for barely one week, it has quickly climbed to No. 1 spot in my collection. Oddly, it is also the most comfortable of my 3 Reverso models. Perhaps due to the large case dimensions, and the incredible thinness of just over 7mm. JLC had changed the lug design in 2014, angling the lugs downward so that they better fit the wrist. However, this one with the straight lugs is even more comfortable for me. I loved the watch so much, I thought that I would just have to compromise with the fit. So that is a bonus.

I was a bit surprised, before I purchased the watch, to know that the hands and markers are lumed. Not normally a feature I would associate with the Reverso. I had not seen any really good photos of the lume, so I was not sure what to expect. I should have know, however, that whatever JLC does, it does extremely well, and this lumed dial is no exception. Not only does it glow brightly, it remains glowing well into the night.

There must have been a brand new alligator strap installed as well. Beautifully done, and thick enough so that it really supports the watch in a good position on my wrist without having to tighten it. JLC tang buckle, which I much prefer over the deployant, for reasons I won't go into here.

Being used to watches of all sizes, I am thrilled about the wrist presence of this watch. Matter of fact, even the smaller Classic Medium Reverso has a nice presence. Considering that I was wearing my Panerai Luminor of 47mm when I picked up my first Reverso, that is saying a lot.

One feature that most impresses is the case. Although the design appears simple on the outside, it is very complex, using no less than 50 parts. While some might consider the Water Resistance rating of 3 bar (30metres/100ft) to be insignificant, I consider it quite an accomplishment given the number of components.

I simply love the simplicity of the dial, not even a small seconds, simple baton markers and sword hands. The off white color used for the lume, which I hesitate to call "faux patina" as it is so very well done and appropriate, truly adds to the vintage appeal of the watch. Although significantly larger than the original 1931 Reverso, the design elements still remain intact. Including the lack of Jaeger-LeCoultre branding, only "REVERSO" as the original. I won't go into detail about the history and why the lack of branding. There is an exceptional article about Reverso history, written by Tim Mosso of Govberg/Watchbox: https://www.govbergwatches.com/blog/...ultre-reverso/

So much for my incessant rambling. I did feel, however, that this gorgeous watch does rate a review. Here are quite a few of my better photos:

Automatic watch function

$

Dear All,

since some time now the automatic function of my JLC Master Compressor watch seems not to work at all. Even if I am wearing the watch all day it stops working after about two days. Typically, it stops working during the night when I am not wearing it. When the watch is manually winded, every 36-48h, it works very accurately, gaining up to 3-5 s per day, depending how much I wind it. Before I was never manually winding the watch, even though I had the feeling that it never fulfilled the 65h gang reserve specified by JLC (when unworn the watch stopped after 18-36 h). Maybe somebody in the forum has an idea of what might be the problem? I live in a small town and the next authorized dealer is 150 km away. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Request: Pictures of JLC Reverso Classic Large Duoface Small Seconds with Rolex & Omega?

$

Hi all,

I'm thinking about adding a JLC Reverso Classic Large Duoface Small Seconds (Ref. 3848422) to my collection. I currently have a Rolex Submariner Date (116610LN), Rolex Explorer II (216570) and Omega Seamaster 300 M Quartz (2221.80). I feel like a JLC Reverso would complete my collection - at least for now. I haven't tried one on yet as my local AD is closed due to COVID-19.

My main concern is the size as I tend to like my watches a bit bigger with the current collection being 40MM, 41MM & 42MM. My wrist is about 7.5" and the pictures give some perspective.

I'd love to see some pictures of the watches I have compared to the Reverso Classic Large Duoface (47MM x 28.3MM). I'm sure some of you have some (or maybe all) of the same watches so I could see a lineup of them side-by-side. :)

Thanks in advance for helping me see how they look together; both because seeing them together would be cool and they are all awesome looking watches.

Here's some links for reference:

Jaeger Limousine Clock

$

In the early 1930s, Jaeger (North America) was producing wind up clocks for Packards and Cadillacs that were stylish as well as expensive.

I have maybe 20 Jaeger Lecoultre watches and a dozen or more table clocks so when this one showed up, I had to bid on it. The second picture is another Jaeger clock in a 1932 Cadillac limo - they were often installed back in the passenger compartment and were wind up - before electric was very common.

Does anyone else have any JLC car clocks? I am having this one built into a custom Brazilian rosewood base (otherwise they aren't very easy to mount, having the winding stem extending downward).

I am also trying to find out if JLC also did later car clocks in the 40s and 50s.

Hi,

I've fallen in love with this watch.

Can anyone tell me what it's called, an ID, and what how much it sells for in the primary/secondary market?

References to similar JWC watches would also be appreciated!

Help Identifying my grandmother's watch

Hi everyone - I was hoping someone might have some knowledge of JLC vintage timepieces. I don't know any of the history, so any input would be appreciated. I was hoping the marks on the clasp may shed some light on it. That wouldn't be the serial number would it?

Watch still winds and runs fine. It keeps good time from what I can tell. I would most definitely wear it, but it is too small to fit around my wrist. Thanks!

Help me find a leather band for a gift

Hello everyone, I am new here. I just finished my undergrad and doing my masters in the fall and my father gave me one of his watches as a gift. Unfortunately, the leather band is falling apart. I am a student so I don't have much money, I saw watch bands go for 300+ from the JLC site. Are there other options that are cheaper that matches my watch?

I have a JLC Reserve de Marche, the number i got on the watch is 140.8.93

Reverso Duodate or medium Reverso Duoface?

$
0
0
Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the market for a Reverso Duoface and need assistance deciding on which model to get. The issue is I'm not sure which model I should buy. The Duodate, coming in a grande case, has a larger case at 52mm by 30mm with a 22mm strap. The medium Duoface is 42.9mm by 25.5mm with a 20mm. Would the grande case of the Duodate fit on someone with a seven inch wrist, roughly two inches across.

Further, where can one purchase additional straps for the Duodate? I understand that 22mm by 18mm straps can be purchased through Camille Fournet, the manufacturer of JLC's straps, however I can't find any information as to whether or not they will accommodate the lug design of the case. It is the gold ostrich leather strap I'm after specifically. Is there a company that manufacturers 22mm by 18mm straps that fit the Reverso well?

The ready availability of 20mm straps for the medium sized case Duodate is a selling point for me, though a small one. The size is another as I know I can pull off the sizing without an issue. The larger grande case isn't much larger on paper, but I'm not unsure if it will wear as well.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
