How long is the Reverso wait time????

Hi guys

A question for you JLC experts, I have ordered a Reverso Classique Duoface small seconds from an AD in London.

What sort of wait time should I expect? Just so as I know if they are starting to stretch me out unnecessarily.

Thanks in advance.

Clive.

So I bought this and I am looking for a case to go with the 818/2 movement. The closest I can determine is that I need a 226-818. But I don't know where to go to find one. Can anyone tell me where to go?

Thx, JLC. I may be done with fine watches

My Geophysic stopped working after 30 months and was serviced this spring. The time off-wrist was inconvenient but I was fine with paying the cost of repair because I figured it was due for a check up.

A few months ago it fell off my wrist because the stainless pin in the buckle had worn and failed. JLC should probably have caught that and prevented it at the time of service.

I understand the nature of these watches so I shipped it back for repair again with a shoulder shrug...the estimate is seven weeks / $650 for a stainless steel pin. If we were talking about the movement, that might make sense but does such a repair even require skilled labor?

The additional cost is obnoxious but more importantly, I'm learning to live without the watch. Can you think of another product where so much downtime is acceptable? The time in service amounts to a quarter of 2019 and 11% of my period of ownership.

Which one would you choose? JLC vs Omega

Which one would you choose as your daily / casual wear? (Geophysic 1958 vs AT 2503.33)

Wanting to hear opinions! Need to choose one and having a hard time deciding...

Both models are lovely and i would keep both but they seem to fill a similar role..

JCL Atmos Transparente Clock

I have ordered a JLC Transparente Atmos Clock. (JLC makes clocks as well)

https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/au/...e/5135204.html

The price is $US10k plus local taxes.

Paid $ upfront.

Unfortunately, air freight carriers won't accept the transport of gas to Australia (where I live). It's a safety issue (aka exploding things). A lot of administrative arguments. This has delayed the clock delivery by two months (not yet received).

Anyone else experiencing this?

I am not in hurry with the item.

Advice on Reverso with 822/2 caliber.

Hello friends,

I’m considering buying a brand new reverso with this caliber but I’m scared with the poor accuracy of some pieces related by other users here . There’s also a special topic only about JLC precision with terrible results. I’m the kind of man that can stand something close to a COSC (-4 to + 6 seconds per day) but not those -8 or + 14 or even worse for an expensive watch like that.

Could you please share your experiences with Reversos (preferably with the movement 822/2)for heavens sake?

Thank you so much.

Got an offer from local watch dealer that offer this JLC Master Control Sector Dial for $4600 with full box/paper and anytime service provided by them. Do you think it's a good price or should I haggle some more?

Thanks.

JLC Master Moon or ZENITH Chronomaster

I am new to the Forum and need your advice!

After having owned a simple "3-hands-only" watch from Tudor and Omega, I am now looking for something a little more complicated. The watch absolutely needs to have a moonphase and month. Display caseback is a must!

So my two rivals are the JLC Master Moon 140.8.98(s) and the Zenith Chronomaster 01.0240.410 both with white dials and from ca. 1998 to 2007. I want to spend <5500 USD. I admire the class the Zenith expresses, which new ones dont. What changed with JLC after they were bought by Richemont in 2000. What kind of phase was Zenith in during the early 2000s? Was it a good time for the brand?

In case of the brands, both are a little bit less known to most people and certainly are horogically important. I just cant make up my mind. The JLC has a simplicity which the Zenith doesn't have, however the el primero 410 is beautiful.
What do you think in terms of value, price performance, build quality, which watch is more unique? Which brand would you want to have more and why?

Is there any other watch that comes to your mind that would fit my budget and my criterias?

Lets get the conversation startedb-)

Futurematic Advice

I am currently on the hunt for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Futurematic.

I've noticed that the 'LeCoultre' models for the American market are marked 'Futurematic', whereas the European 'Jaeger-LeCoultre' models tend to be marked 'Automatic'.

I've seen this (somewhat optimistically priced) example on eBay which bears both the 'Jaeger-LeCoultre' logo and the 'Futurematic' name. It appears to be a frankenwatch as it has a European dial and an American case.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F173897517814

My question is this:
Do European 'Jaeger-LeCoultre' models with the 'Futurematic' dial actually exist? Or were all of the European dials marked 'Automatic'?

I would love to have a 'Jaeger-LeCoultre Futurematic', but perhaps I'm looking for something that doesn't exist...

Medium Reverso Options?

I'm looking at picking up a Reverso as a watch for work/dress watch. Unfortunately my wrists aren't quite large enough to pull off one of the larger 49mm Reversos, but the medium 43mm models look great. Although I might just pick up the Reverso Classic Medium, are there any other models I should be looking at? I kind of like the idea of some complications (although the Tribute 1931 looks good as well) and I'm not opposed to buying something used.

Vintage JLC 24000 question

I was looking at articles about the early 70s chronometer ref. 24000, which was said to house the cal. 906

All the photos showed a time and date dial, no day of the week.

Yet when searching for currently available 24000s for sale, the one I found featured a day and date window. On one hand it makes sense as I believe cal. 906 did include day and date. But then again, I could not find any other photo of a 24000 with day and date. Which makes me suspect the authenticity of the watch. Though it looks very authentic in all other respects, like case, dial and bracelet.

Anyone got any info on the subject? Any knowledge of 24000 version with day and date?

37mm Master Grand Taille on a Hirsch Scandic.

It was previously on a curved-end black gator strap like in 2 of the pictures, but I wasn't wearing it that much in view of is dressier appearance. The grey strap gives a more versatile balance.

JLC Geophysic True Second

Hi everyone, just a few questions!

Does the current Geophysic True Second have any magnetic resistance?

If I wanted to change the watch strap, can I just purchase any 20mm strap and switch it up? Or will I need anything special to make it fit right?

I'm trying to find a way to "dress it down", and I don't want to waste money on straps that won't fit it right.

Also, is it normal for the movement to be somewhat noisy? Although I may be in the ultra minority here, I really do love the ticking seconds hand, and I love the ticking movement... I find the movement itself to be kinda noisy!

It sounds almost like a very fine zipper sound. Having owned other automatic watches, I'm accustomed to *some* noise, but I haven't heard it to this degree.

Grand Seiko rotors tend to be somewhat noisy, and although this one is noisy, it sounds much more refined I guess I could say...

Master Ultra Thin Perpetual

On the fence between these 2. I'm going to see if I can actually put my hands on them and see them in person. I've been told that JLC only made the black dial for 1 year. I've also heard that the white dial version had a color discrepancy between the "20" and the 19 in earlier versions but was corrected in later versions. I've also been told I can purchase a bracelet for this watch. Can anyone speak to these points as well as their experience with the watches? Also, is the black dial version a flat black or does it have a texture/shimmer like finish? Some watches are really hard to photograph and it's hard to appreciate the finer details. Thanks in advance.

Best,

David

Quick change bracelet issues, Reverso

$

Briefly, my wife has a JLC Reverso, ref. 234.8.66. Her watch, unlike the new Reversos, uses a proprietary slide-in latch for the bracelet. There is a tiny release under the middle underside of each end that allows you to unfasten it. She's been having trouble from time to time where one end of the strap releases on its own, and you can't securely reattach it, even though the latch appears to cycle. Does anyone here have this same type of reverso? Is the bracelet latch a known issue? The local AD (who didn't sell the watch) doesn't seem to be taking it seriously, and their watchmaker has so far been able to get it to latch again. "See, no problem!" This bothers me b/c if it let go in the middle of her day, this $8k-ish watch could get damaged or even lost. Just looking for any feedback or guidance before I take it in again. Thanks!

JLC Master Compressor Service

To date, I’ve purchased both from ADs and pre-owned watches with easy to service movements.

However, I have my eye on a pre-owned JLC Master Compressor Chronograph 2. When I called a local watchmaker (who seems to have an excellent reputation) they stated they could not service the watch because JLC does not manufacture parts for it anymore.

Is this a reason for concern? I’m fine with a standard waiting time (4-6 weeks, etc.). But I’m entering into new territory here and any insight regarding servicing this watch would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
