Good price for JLC Grande Reverso Duoface Ultra Thin model 3788570 from an AD?

$

My first post and a newbie here.

My question is $6700 a good price for this particular JLC model bought brand new at an AD with full warranty/cards. MSRP at most sites(online and otherwise) is $9750. The AD told me they are discontinuing this model(don't know if this is actually true or just sales pitch jargon), so I don't know if that affects the value of this model. Appreciate any input from JLC veteran buyers.

Thanks!

My grandfathers watch. Actually, it needs lugs, all four. Could have them fabricated, but I've read elsewhere in the forum that sometimes an empty case can be used to supply lugs.

I am confused and need some help to identify what models are the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931? I know the black one from 2011 is TT1931, but what about the red, the green, the white gold with white dial, the red gold with chocolate dial, the blue duo face, the red gold with white dial. Are they also TT1931, or are they just Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931?

thoughts: MUTM SS vs Rose Gold

Let me start off by saying both options are simply stunning, and I cannot make my mind go one way or the other. Anyone contemplated the same choices if you can please share your thoughts I would much appreciate. I have not seen either one in flesh; would love to see some pictures of the 2 in the same (similar) light (if possible).
I am stepping up my collection from my main watches Hamilton Jazzmaster day-date & Tissot Visodate – I love them both very much; although the MUTM JLC from what I can tell looks like the perfect 10.0 dress watch for my needs. In some ways I see resemblance between my Hamilton Jazzmaster day date Silver dial and the MUTM-SS, but lot thicker watch. while I have already decided on MUTM-JLC as my next buy, would still love to hear from people who made similar move from the Hamilton Jazzmater collection or Tissot watches or SARBs or similar. How different does the JLC feel in comparison and besides the brand prestige how much discernible quality & finishing differences can be felt.

Thanks a lot,
-Michael.

Hello, I've just been given this watch (pics attached) & I know nothing about it. I like the look of it, though it doesn't work & needs replating (I would like to get it working & looking good). I would be grateful for any information any of you may have about the watch. Is it worth repairing? If so any ideas where in the UK I may try?

Many thanks in advance.

Another newbie question. Who knows anything about this kind of JLC watch? It's inherited and I would like to get it running again. Yes, it's a broad question, but any and all tips, knowledge, and/or experiences are appreciated. Thank you

Advice on servicing and restoring a vintage Reverso circa 1930s

$

I've been offered a vintage Reverso, circa 1930s, and I am afraid I am out of my debt when it comes to questions of servicing/restoring it.

I understand JLC will restore the watch, but with a watch this old (and no service history), it is rather hard to ascertain parts are original and the watch has not been tampered it.

Will JLC still take it despite it's lack of history/possibility it has been serviced by an unauthorized dealer?
The auction expert who examined the piece (it was purchased at auction by the current owner) commented that they were "unable to trace the movement".

Could anyone hazard an estimate as to how much it might cost me?

Also, what are the pitfalls of vintage watch restoration?
I understand the dial should be left in its original condition as much as possible, as well as the handles, though in this case the handles are quite significantly worn. That said, I am less concerned about preserving the value of the watch, rather than restoring it to full working order.

I do not intend to resale the watch, as it is a piece I have been looking for, for a while.

JLC Master Ultra Thin Small Seconds

So the story is that I went to buy the beautiful Reverso One Cordonnet for my wife (just announced in SIHH 2016, with details here: http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us/e...t/3264520.html) and got the chance to try some pieces for me.

Although I've never been too much into gold watches (I tend to prefer steel), I had the chance to try the beautiful Master Ultra Thin Small Seconds in a perfectly 38.5mm sizes pink gold case (http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us/e...d/1272510.html).

While I really liked the watch, considering it's a $11k+ purchase, I was wondering what other options (from JLC or otherwise) would our fellow members consider at around the same price range.

Looking forward for your suggestions...

JLC Ultra Moon 39 suddenly stopped working

Hello,

This morning, when I went to put on my JLC Ultra Moon 39, I noticed that the time was stopped during the night. No big deal, I picked up the watch, set the time correctly, wind it a couple of times and put it on. A couple of minutes later I noticed that the watch was not running. I would then wind it a couple more times, pull out the crown, adjust time, put it in place, but still nothing.

The watch is from October 2015 and I wear it a maximum of 3 times a week. I am 100% certain that the watch has not had any damage done to it.

Any of you in here who could think of what has happened? Or anything else I could try to get it up and running?

I'm planning on visiting a certified watch dealer asap.

Thank you.

I like the bracelet on the Ultra Thin but want the automatic movement and two faces of the Classic Medium Duetto. Is it possible to swap them? They each list a case size of 40 x 24mm.

Vintage Memovox questions

I have a couple of questions about this Memovox. The clock seems to work ok, but the Alarm is not consistently working. I bought it on eBay and am trying to decide if I should keep it.

Is is it possible to tell the approximate year of the watch? How much would be a reasonable service charge from a reputable shop to fix the alarm and a general service?

Thanks very much for any guidance!

Opinions on Reverso Classique Manual Wind

$

Hey everyone, I was wondering if there was a general consensus about the Reverso Classique Manual Wind. I know JLC doesn't finish their lower-end movements quite so nicely as some of their pricier offerings, but to be honest this is the only Reverso that speaks to me. Actually, until I saw this watch I had always discounted Reversos as something quirky that I could really never understand. I'm not a fan of Art-Deco and this seems to be one of the more subdued designs, which I think might put the people the Reverso traditionally appeals to off. I don't mind that at all (because I really like it) but I'm just trying to figure out why I never see them around or on the forums. Or ever reviewed in much depth.

I like it because, unlike the versions with guilloche dials and other finishes like that, this can be eminently casual in a laissez-faire kind of way with the brown ostrich strap it's sold on.
AND it's so classically restrained on black crocodile that it would go completely unnoticed at a bank or other such office with a dress code. Which is ideal.
IMO, it's also not stuffy enough to look out of place on the wrist of a 20~ year old and almost completely unostentatious. So it would be appropriate to wear around my (or anyone else's) bosses in a way that almost anything else at this quality and price point would not.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth buying? Why is there hardly anything about this on the forums?

Certificate of Origin Question

I recently purchased a JLC Deep Sea Alarm Tribute from an AD. I am very particular about new watch purchases and when the Certificate of Origin was not included I was concerned. After talking with the owner of the AD they assured me JLC watches no longer come with Certificate of Origin's. Is this true?

While this watch has been discontinued, all other Deep Sea Alarms I have seen came with this document.

Anyone know if JLC stopped issuing Certificates or Origin?

Cheers,
Tyler

Cry for Help: This Memovox Can't Be Legit. Or is it? That's the Question

Hi Guys,

There are so many franken/alarm clock turned watches Memovox on the market that I'd like to have your views. This Memovox doesn't look legit to me. The batons hour markers at 6 o'clock have been glued above the "Swiss" inscription. I've never seen that on any Memovox model.

What do you think?

Thanks for sharing your view. Always much appreciated.

And thanks to Watchuseek team for the forum :-)

Hi guys.

Haven't been posting for some time, but just received this beauty:

My first Reverso, and I'm just amazed at the workmanship, especially those faceted, polished blue indices. Also my first hand-wound watch, and winding it is such a pleasure! Feels so smooth. It's a very formal watch, more formal than I expected.

Surprisingly, the round seconds subdial doesn't clash with the rectangular dial (I thought it would). On the contrary, it gives it some tension and flair, I feel.

Case size is similar to the Grande Taille (43 x 26 mm). Thickness is 9 mm. The caseback is very slightly curved to fit the wrist.

The watch comes on a dark blue 19 mm leather strap. The deployment's a new version and is quite comfortable.

Size: 80.5 KB

The springbars seem to be easy to remove (even with a finger), with one end being well-exposed through a small hole in the leather and bent at a right angle. Gone are the plastic bars between the lugs that used to prop the strap to make it flush with the case.

Here's the verso side, which can be used to track a second time zone:

Size: 146.0 KB

The hour hand of the verso side is adjusted using this well-concealed switch at the top of the case:

Size: 151.5 KB

Name: JLC reverso tribute duo mirror 1.jpg
Views: 33

Well, what can I say?

Finally, a Reverso to call my own. Great size for a small-ish (6.5") wrist; thin enough to slip under my shirt cuffs; beautiful grained recto dial; intricate verso dial; manual wind; and so very different compared to my round watches.

Thanks for looking.

I'm looking to purchase a Grand Reverso Duoface Stainless Steel. On the JLC website, it has an MSRP of $9,750 USD and I'm looking to get a hold of one from an AD overseas so I can get it for a lower price. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks.
