LeCoultre vintage alarm wristwatch question

Hello, I'm new here. Excellent forums! I recently obtained my first watch like this. I attached these pictures of the watch. It is marked 10k gold filled but is a nice looking watch nonetheless. Any info regarding the alarm function and age would be most appreciated. It belonged to a relative who passed away in 1989, and has not been worn since.
It works remarkably well and keeps great time with almost a day of reserve in the mainspring. The alarm is loud and interesting too. However, If I leave the alarm's crown pressed in, and the alarm not wound, there is a rattling sound inside the watch's body. This does not occur if it is set to ring at any time and IS wound. Is it suitable to leave the secondary (alarm) crown pulled to the 'out' position, since I rarely have the alarm set? Or is the rattle normal since there is no pressure on that spring?
thanks in advance
