JLC Master Geographic dial wear

In recent months I have notices that the dial of my Master Geographic has started to show signs of wear and I cannot wrap my arms around why or how. At first I thought it may be the hands making contact against the dial but with time the discoloration is starting to expand to parts of the dial that have no hands anywhere near them. Has anyone else experianced this with a JLC? Is the only solution a factory replaced dial?
