Thoughts on an older reverso

I recently sold a Nomos Orion Datum as the lugs and dial looked a little large on my 6.5" wrist for that kind of watch. I am now after a JLC, either a master control date or reverso. I like the sapphire caseback of the master control but the art deco, classic stylings of the reverso. Someone has offered me to sell an older reverso classique with the traditional measurements of 23mmx38mm for £1600. It is in absolutely fantastic condition and has really not had much use given its age. Even the original strap looks very unworn. It comes as a full set. It all works as it should but does not have a service history, so would require a service.

I am wondering if this sounds like a good deal? How much do JLC services run for this kind of manual movement and is there anywhere that would be able to service just the movement for a reduced price (the watch does not need polishing).

As the watch is coming up to 25 years old does this mean that servicing might become more difficult and expensive? Finally am I missing anything by getting this reverso rather than a newer model. Does the case still operate the same? Has the movement changed much? I like the texture on the newer dials but could live without it!

The watch in question in the model number
250.840.862

What I am wondering is....is this watch despite its age still going to last me a lifetime?
.

Many thanks.

One more thing. I am UK based so any tips around good service centres for JLC pieces would be great!
