Dark blue leather alligator strap with the classic JLC silver dial (Master Control)

I have a Master Control date with a silver dial. Similar to this one:



I have it on a black strap, and because I rarely wear black shoes, this watch gets little wrist time. I want to make it my daily wear. I suppose I could purchase a brown leather strap, but I'm thinking a dark blue (matte) leather strap would be better. Or at least a bit more interesting, since you don't see it often. Something like this:



So I have two questions:

1 - Do you think this combination - classic silver JLC dial with the dark blue strap - would work well? Does anyone here have a similar combination they would like to share?

2 - If not dark blue, what other color? The classic brown? Light or dark brown? Seems more traditional when you don't choose black, but perhaps a bit too standard?

Any pics of a Master Control on a leather strap that is not black would be greatly appreciated.
