I'm considering getting a light brown sharkskin strap for my favorite Reverso.
That type of exotic leather is usually associated with diver watches for its water resistance.
Is it too "rough" a hide for a Reverso?
I spend Winters in South Florida, and Summers in New York and France.
In Paris last August, when temperatures were in the high 90s, my usual alligator strap was soaked in sweat.
It made me wish for a metal bracelet Rolex for those dog days.
While in Paris, I paid a visit to the Camille Fournet shop and purchased a beautiful light gold (almost pale yellow) Ostrich strap.
Upon returning to New York, on a hot late Summer day my brand new Ostrich strap got the worst sweat stains.
Sebastian at the Camille Fournet shop had warned me about getting any kind of liquids near Ostrich leather, but I didn't think about sweat permeating through the stitching...
Anyway, since I seem to never get away very long from hot climes (first-world issue?), I decided to look into a water-resistant leather for my next light-colored strap.
I was recommended sharkskin, which for me equates to an thick wrinkly electric blue strap on a garish Breitling diver.
Not anything I had ever considered for my Reverso, but since I'm just weeks away from heading to sub-tropical Palm Beach county weather, I'm seriously considering it.
