Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I have two watches, both of which I have bought new: a 1997 Rolex GMT Master II and a Timex Ironman Quartz. My job is changing a bit and I'm wearing suits more often. Certainly I can wear the GMT Master with a suit but I am looking for a dress watch. I love the look of the Master Control Date and the Master Control Memovox. I've been drooling over the Memovox that NightOwl has posted but at 2mm thicker than my GMT Master, I worry that my shirt cuffs will be tight and it will be uncomfortable. I am trying to get to an AD locally (Boston, MA) to try on a Memovox and see if that is an issue.
I have also come across this listing on eBay: Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Excellent Shape with Box and Papers | eBay
I would never have considered spending thousands of dollars on eBay items but from reading forums, it seems like people do. I wanted to ask the forum for your collective wisdom on the legitimacy of the ad and if it looks like a real watch, etc. If this were being sold on this forum by a poster with dozens of sales, I wouldn't be concerned. However, this is on ebay and posted by a seller with few sales. I do think that eBay has a "money back guarantee" to protect buyers but I don't know how well that works. I have compared the watch to pictures of another sold by a reputable seller and it looks real at a high level but I am by no means an expert: European Watch Company: Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Auto SS/Strap
I would really appreciate advice from experts on this forum regarding the ebay listing. Does it look OK? Anything I should be worried about? Should I run or pull the trigger and hope that eBay's money back guarantee protects me in case of any issues?
Also any feedback on the thickness of the Memovox would be appreciated - that is a beautiful watch.
Thanks very much,
David
