In the early 1930s, Jaeger (North America) was producing wind up clocks for Packards and Cadillacs that were stylish as well as expensive.
I have maybe 20 Jaeger Lecoultre watches and a dozen or more table clocks so when this one showed up, I had to bid on it. The second picture is another Jaeger clock in a 1932 Cadillac limo - they were often installed back in the passenger compartment and were wind up - before electric was very common.
Does anyone else have any JLC car clocks? I am having this one built into a custom Brazilian rosewood base (otherwise they aren't very easy to mount, having the winding stem extending downward).
I am also trying to find out if JLC also did later car clocks in the 40s and 50s.
