LeCoultre Mystery

Hello Chaps

Can I please ask your opinion on this one?

My research and knowledge (very limited) tells me that it looks like a US market 1950's Mystery in a stainless steel case and with a calibre 480CW movement which is numbered 1361841.

I have a feeling that the caseback and possibly the case may not be original given the apparent lack of a serial number on the case and LeCoultre inscription on the inside of the caseback.

It also looks a bit polished to me.

I think the dial looks pretty original though and has a nice patina.

I also realise that most of these "Mystery" watches seem to have diamond "hands" and hour markers and, more often than not, gold cases.

Therefore, all things considered, this is probably a bit of a poor relation but I must say I really do like the look of it and I would be really interested in your thoughts.

In particular, do you concur with my fears regarding the case and caseback?

Also, can anyone help me narrow the movement year down, given its serial number 1361841 please. I think early 50's but would love to know exact year.

Finally, I have not used the words "Vacheron Constantin" at all in this thread although I see their name comes up a lot in connection with these Mystery watches. Am I right in thinking VC has got nothing at all to do with this particular watch?

Thanks chaps - sorry for all the questions.

Regards
