Hello all!
I'm in need of some assistance. I bought a JLC on ebay several months ago. (Ref. e952 with the 819 Calibre) I thought I bought a great example, but over time I noticed some interesting details I missed earlier. The case, caseback and movement look great and authentic, but there are three telling signs that have me thinking I got hit with a bad re-dial.
My questions to those knowledgeable in vintage JLC's are in reference to these three items:
- The 'Swiss Made' label is missing from the dial. This watch was made in the 60's and I think some models of JLC didn't have the 'Swiss Made' label on the dials.
- The dial isn't a sunburst dial, in which I think it was described as on the listing. The listing has been removed by eBay because too much time has passed, so I can't confirm if my memory was correct. Again, this reference may have examples that aren't sunburst so perhaps this may be correct. My dial is a finely vertical brushed 'patterned' dial.
- The name logo of JLC is printed on the dial as 'Jaeger-Le-Coultre' and not Jaeger-LeCoultre'. Was there a time that this was the correct for the name logo? I've see other watches with this label, but I'm not sure as those too could've been redials as well.
This isn't any of the popular JLC vitange models that I would expect to be redone or faked, but who knows? I noticed a couple of similar models online and these were the main differences that stuck out to me. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you
