I'll start by saying I am a horology geek, not a wealthy person or a collector. It seems ludicrous to spend this amount of money on an object that tells time, but in this forum you guys/girls understand.
The last watch I'll ever buy....Master Calendar Reference Q1558420. I have been pondering one for years and years (and tried them on at a few boutiques in a handful of countries) and finally decided to pull the trigger after some recent life successes. I spend a lot of time on the beach/coast and fancy myself as a tide and moon phase nerd. I was able to pick up a new one that came from an AD with full box, papers, and warranty second hand from a gentleman that had to buy this watch and a Rolex to get a certain Lange he was after. Apparently the Lange had to be part of a package deal from the AD and consequently I got a GREAT deal on "my other holy grail watch".
My number one and daily wearer is an original Omega Planet Ocean 2201.50, one of the last batches of them with the rare 2500D movement. I purchased it when I officially became an engineer. It has been running +2-3 seconds over 36 hours for the past 7 years now and will be headed to it's first service within the next year or so as a proactive measure. It will be difficult, but I do not plan to put on the Master Calendar until my number one goes for service.
We have all seen pictures of JLCs in their boxes so this will have to do until it arrives.
Edit: Due to the alligator strap I can't put this one in the ocean like I do my PO. I'll have to enjoy the moon phases on the dial from the safety of the shoreline.
